Standard Deviation - Katherine Heiny
A brilliant book that examines love, marriage, and infidelity. Possibly one of the funniest books I have ever read.

Pod - Laline Paull
An immersive and transformative novel that is centered around the Ocean world. With unforgettable characters (Dolphins, Whales, and Moray Eels), this story explores the true meaning of family belonging and sacrifice. Shortlisted for the Women’s Prize 2023, this book is now in my top reads of the all-time pile.
- - -
Purple Hibiscus - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
A coming-of-age story set that addresses identity, gender, and violence in post-colonial Nigeria. This was one of the first books of Chimamanda’s that I read aged 15. Another firm favourite.
- - -
A Little Life - Hanya Yanagihara
An achingly beautiful yet heartbreaking story of brotherly and the limits of human endurance. One of the best books I have ever read in my life. And I’ve read a lot of books.
- - -
The Love Songs Of W.E.B Du Bois - Honoree Fanonne Jeffers
An unforgettable heavy weight of a book that explores the history of an African-American family in the American South, starting from the American civil war and slavery through to the Civil Rights Movement.
