Welcome to RyeZine - A magazine introducing you to the creative people in the South East of England.
Featured in our latest issue are the Artist and Musician Louis Turpin at Great Dixter. Maz Cogo, Head Chef at The Union Rye. Photographer and now Author Gilbert McCarragher, in Dungeness. Louis Turpin
We meet artist Louis Turpin at his studio, where he shares the critical milestones of his journey so far. Louis is currently working on an exhibition of monthly paintings that span a year at Great Dixter, which will open later in 2024.

Today, Maz has been the head chef at The Union in Rye for a little over a year. We asked Maz to explain her decision to become a chef and leave Brazil for England.

We first met Gilbert in the Kino in Rye for a chat and then heard more of his story at his book launch; when Martin from Sailors interviewed Gilbert at The Winery Rye.

We met Nina Cosford at her Hastings studio then headed out location drawing at the iconic Net Huts, the black timber storage sheds at Rock-a-Nore.

We revisited Ben Walgate three years after our first article to hear about The Winery Rye and Walgate wine.

We spent time at Euan Roberts’ Big Yin Gallery and on St Leonards’ Beach on one of the first days of summer sun.

Mark Cocksedge’s portrait of Giles Duley for the cover of RyeZine No.7 was a finalist in the 38th AOP Photography Awards.
It was published in the awards book.
Mark ’s portrait of Nick Ede for RyeZine No.5 was shortlisted for The British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Britain award.
It is one of 200 images to be published as part of Portrait of Britain Vol 5.
